Just though it would be good if we had an idea of what areas of driving we all took part in !

I've put at home as that's what I do mostly. However we have done a little bit of showing and a couple of BDS drives.

Ermmm... needed to vote for more than one, but have voted for my passion, which is Private Driving (only locally at the moment, but England beware in 2008! ;D ). I also take part in club activities, such as club level HDT, skilled driving events and beach scurries (using either single or pair) which is amazing good fun! Modified to add - why don't we all post a photo of our turnout doing what we are love best? This is my Country Class turnout! Please excuse the scrunched box seat position and the silly face being pulled. This is my first year back driving after a long break (due to nasty accident) and I was pooping my pants driving him in the ring in my precious Ralli Car for the first time.

I want to see you at a HDT tara, in pairs, me with mine and you with yours, it would be an absolute hoot!
I am like Tara, I like to do a bit of private driving, in pairs and singles. Tandem next year with any luck!.
I drive at home and take tourists out and do a bit of teaching too.
Glad to see tara has a "thinking face" too. (sorry reference to a thread on another forum)

Yeah, she could try to flatten us, but we'd be too nippy!....actually we could use tara's turnout as one of the obstacles, in and out of Podge's legs!

I do private driving classes in my dog cart. I have a Mulliner's of Birmingham dogcart from ~ 1890.

Live on an island - no driving competitions except showing and the local bloke paid ten grant for his horse, and an awful lot for his lovely turnout - so no point! Two of mine drive. Here is the little 'un, Jones.

I compete in Private Driving Classes, have been driving for over 12 years and love the sport. It is great fun and no matter what your age you will enjoy the sport of carriage driving.

Well TBH ours is pretty well managed, but it takes a good deep pocket to compete in a showing class. There is not a class for exercise vehicle or anything like that. I love to see the gorgeous old turnouts - but they are out of my reach financially. What I would like to do is something like driven le Trec, but nothing like it on the island, and over £100 a throw to leave it. Also, again being honest, driving is only one interest in a very busy working life. I also ride, and am finishing a 200,000 word biography, and making my daughter's wedding dress......

What lovely pics!!! I especially like the one of 'the view' from the box seat Tazzle, is that a bitless bridle you are using on your pony through the water?? I'm just curious...

Hi rosemaryhannah You should try and encourage your show to hold a exercise class. In Scotland for the past couple of years we have been encouraging shows to hold both Private and exercise classes as it allows everyone to get a good crack of the whip and great for those wanting to try the sport and see if they wish to progress to Private Driving. The increase in numbers at events has been amazing!!!

Hi Thought I would add a couple of pictures of my boys below is my dales pony Hieland Laddie driven to a 1902 Beaufort cart which was restored by my dad. I competed with Laddie from 1995 to 2004 sadly he had to be retired from driving due to injury, he passed away last year miss him terribly. He had a very succedful showing career winning all over Scotland and did well in the M&M and country class at the T&S championships in 1999. [ And this is my boy JD's El Diablo who I am currently competing with he is a ID X Standard bred absolute dream to drive and has been driving since 2004 he is driven to a 1902 bent sided cut under gig or gull winged gig.
