Do people not tell the whole truth when selling animals?
I have just got a 6 year old mule on loan. Just cutting her corner teeth.
It was sent away to be backed 18 months ago but done nothing since. I was told that she long reined nicely and would be great for driving. She has no acceptance of the bit at all and spent the whole time today with her tongue over it and out the side of her mouth when asked to work.
Tried tanking off on long reins and did not know what a circle was. Poor darling wants to please but just has no idea.
I knew that I would have to start at the beginning but did not realise that after £700 and a couple of months work she would know sod all.
Maybe the photo in a treeless saddle and dually halter should have given me a notion.
Never mind I have the time and she has the right attitude so we should get somewhere, just not as quickly as I had hoped (or the child who is itching to get on for a ride!)
