What a day !
This morning we went to a family friends funeral at a crematorium about 12 miles away along the M8 motorway. After the service we all headed back to the local hall for the funeral tea. Well we started along the road and got on the M8 only to end up stuck in a traffic jam. It was not initially clear what was causing the jam. Anyway it turns out it was a lorry fire and associated chemical spill ! So we were stuck on the M8 along with hundreds of others for 3 hours ! It was roasting hot and we were all so fed up. Most of the funeral cars, including the family in the big funeral cars were all stuck in the jam. So by the time we all eventually got back to the hall for the tea we were all pretty fed up. It was awful for the family. They had enough to contend with without being stuck on the M8 for 3 hours !
To top if off, the friends car I was in would not start once we got to move again. They had to turn us around and go up the motorway the wrong way to get off. With all the sitting, and the radio had been on and unknown to me the air conditioning also on the battery was flat and the car would not start. We had to get a jump start from the police !
So I had lots planned for when I got back from the funeral but ended up getting none of it done and the day has more or less been a write off ! I had hoped to get him out in the cart for a wee while and also wanted to have a bit of a tidy up of the tack room but none of that happened by the time we got back from the funeral.
So going a nice long drive tomorrow so that will be nice ! ;D
