This made me smile (rather a lot) !- Setting: the kitchen table The cast: My21 year old non riding son and myself
Quietly flicking through a recent copy of the horse and hound and stopping at the showing pages my son pipes up concerning "showing" (this does not exist in France)
"what exactly do they do that for?"
me : "well , you remember you saw it at the Bath and West last year ..."
My son interrupts "oh yes I remember now , they go round and round and the fattest one wins"
now what DO you reply to that??? ;D ;D ;D

Lol!! Brilliant!! The things some non-horsey folk come away with!! My non-horsey friend came to an event a few weeks ago and we were watching a beautifully turned out team of grey ponies setting off to do their dressage - she exclaimed, "Oh look! Those ones have got wee doilies on their heads!!!" (They were wearing fly hats! )

I'm never going to be able to put Ziggy's fly hat on with a straight face again p.s. Fly - I'm hopefully going to be joining you in the "haflinger pair drivers club" soon ;D

Brilliant, when is soon? - it is a good "club" - just don't forget that they are very strong, intelligent, and cheeky little devils under thet angelic, docile facade !!!!!

Don't know when - our german friend who found Ziggy for us has found us one that seems to fit the bill - going over to see him in 2 weeks He's 3yo (born feb though so an old 3) but seems quite sweet really! Broken to ride and drive and done a wee bit single and pair so all good! They really are a bit too intelligent sometimes aren't they? A thick horse would be a bit dull though (if a bit easier)!

Glad no-one on here can see Bert & Podge at the moment! Both have had this year off (as have I)... and all three have applied a few pounds! At least the Vet was very pleased with all four Shetlands yesterday... even mentioned the word 'athletic' in the same sentence when describing them! ;D
