Two weeks ago, hubby and I were at a two-day event giving carriage rides. We took his Cob and my best donkey. As we always do, we left them there overnight for one night. When we arrived the second morning, they were gone. There is no way and absolutely no doubt in anybodys mind that they were stolen.
We were extremely lucky, as they were both found in four hours, both in different places on the 200 acre estate. Both stressed and tired, but unharmed.
We firmly believe that they were dumped because they were freezemarked. The area around the donkeys Freezemark had been tampered with slightly, but no harm done and made no difference to the Freezemark.
Are your horses and ponies Freezemarked?

Both the mare and donkey are. The yearling is too young as the marks distort as youngsters grow.

That is awful - mine are not freezemarked but microchipped and registered to conform with the french law. Luckily horse theft is a much less frequent occurance over here.
