I am just curious as to what other members do to get bright white socks etc when competing, when I competed with Billy (coloured cob in my sig) I didn't need to a worry a good whitening shampoo and he was ready to go but with my boy Rocky he has three white socks and I want them to dazzle ;D any tips on a postcard please

A good scrub with Persil washing up liquid (with Aloe Vera ) and then a final wash with Gallop blue shampoo for grey horses. Gypsy is always dazzling with this routine. We also do the Gelderlanders like this (four white socks each!!) and then we chalk them up and brush it off just before oiling feet.

We got some snazzy paste for socks. You put it on after bathing while legs are still wet and rub it in. Let it dry and then brush out and they come up sparkling.
I think it was Gold Lable stuff. Not sure I woudl use it all over a grey, but socks and while legs it's great.
I stick bioligical washing powder on the ends of white tails, wrap it in a sock and soak the tail while I bath the rest of the horse then rinse.

All right then..... I'll number the steps for ease of following! 1. Ensure you have a horse with white socks (following steps will not work with horses with dark legs). 2. Using warm water, wash legs with Wahl Dirty Beastie shampoo (neat - not diluted). 3. Rinse thoroughly 4. Wash legs using Wahl purple shampoo (for greys) neat - not diluted. Use scrubbing brush, fingers and lots of effort. 5. Repeat steps 3., 4. and 3. (in that order). 6. Towel dry legs. 7. Mix white chalk powder into a fairly thick paste and apply to towel dryed legs, working paste into legs down to the skin and applying thickly to areas that haven't come up brilliantly white. 8. Apply gamgee or fibergee around the pasted legs and stable bandage. 9. Remove bandages when at the show and use body brush/comb to take off excess chalk. 10. See above photos for the results! ;D

I have a secret that will get socks even whiter than Tara's method...
Only works on non feathered beasts though.
