My 7 month old foal decided to bring himself in last night over a barbed wire fence, (a cow field, not his). His jumping skills are not a natural talent as he took the top strand with him as he cartwheeled over it. A fair bit of paint removed from his shoulder and forearm as well as a lot of wire pricks down his upper leg, missing his knee fortunately. He is feeling a little sorry for himself today, and the swelling makes it look like he is wearing knickerbockers ;D Hopefully no lasting damage and another lesson learnt.

No, I had gone to work and the grumpy farmer went to get them in and he was waiting in the stackyard. Mum could not care less! but she did stop to sniff the fence tonight when I brought them in. She had to be taught how to jump when I started riding her. A definate family trait as two of her sisters have bent gates and themselves over the years.

Just one nasty laceration still oozing at the top of his forearm, all swelling gone and a few scabs starting to lift at the edges. The second morning he came out of the stable unable to bend one leg but it walked off quite quickly but he didnt trot for a few days. Back to bucking, kicking and farting around the field again. He has turned into a right mummies boy again though.
