Thought I'd best make my first post an introduction.
I live in Hampshire, breed & show Shetlands, but also have a few bigger horses/ponies. I used to drive a few years ago, but would very much class myself as a novice whip. I stopped driving a few years ago, as my then driving pony was being shared by a young girl who was competing her & doing pony club with her, and we wanted to bring her ridden work on, and I didn't have time for both riding & driving. We now of course have the shetlands, and I do want people to take them seriously, although ours are not huge, and want them to be seen as working animals not just pets - so I think it's time to get back into the driving, and get the shetlands in harness. Will be great for those we sell to be able to drive as well as ride, and will also be brilliant to be able to show how good a temperament our mares & stallions have. Add onto all that, I just love driving - it's so much fun!
Just looking around at the moment for a new carriage - will post elsewhere about that, plus deciding what we'd like to do - whether we'll just drive out, or whether we'll do some form of showing/competing. Hoping to go to Merrist Wood this weekend, to watch the IHDT competition there. Have a couple of ponies coming along who've just started training for driving - one is one of our stallions, the other a broodie who's barren this year.
I'd love to show you our ponies on our website, but not sure if that's allowed?
