Hello Everyone Another novice driver here. I have owned, ridden and shown horses for over 40 yrs. but am just now getting into driving. It has been over 15 yrs. since I decided I wanted to drive but just now getting started. (Have to keep commitments made earlier in life My name is Sharon and I live in NY. I am looking forward to learning from and with the members of this board. I have a little Hackney pony mare that is an old pro and a wonderful little girl. We have had a few great drives together but have been sidelined for a while with first a cough, then an injury to her shoulder exactly where her breast collar fits. This too, shall pass and I am chomping at the bit to get out and enjoy this glorious fall weather we are having right now. I look forward to sharing experiences with all of you. Have a great day!!!

Hi starmemories
Hope your pony's shoulder is better soon and you can get out driving again. What type of vehicle do you drive your pony to?

We're just using a metal pipe easy entry training cart and the nylon harness that came with her. Hoping next summer to upgrade the cart and am getting a leather harness as soon as I have the $ saved up, probably this winter. (if I didn't have to feed them I could buy so much more equipment a lot quicker As soon as I can get my hands on my son's camera I will post a picture of her in her "every day finery".

You know, my most used vehicle is a little, pneumatic tyred, metal, weldmesh floored, back step cart. Made especially for my business partner's 8 year old daughter. It was made small, so she could put to herself and man handle it herself.
it's nothing to write home about, but it is SO useful. For training them up and everyday messing about it's great.

Is that the little red cart in some of your photos? It is so cute. My husband and I were trying to figure out how to build a backstep for our cart but aren't quite sure how to do it and keep everything balanced for her.

Hello, hope pony is better soon.
I have the same cart as Wally (except mine is black and slightly bigger) and it is invaluable, the ponies love it to.
