We had a bit of a "Pegasus moment" today with one of the ones in training, introduced a different vehicle to one of the newbies today....being a bit ambitious! It is one that rumbles a lot and she was a bit taken aback at the noise, when the vehicle she has only had behind her is very quiet!
She was good though, stand really does mean stand and we sorted her out. Litte set backs with newly trained horses! ho hum!

yep ... they really do have to learn to deal with all sorts dont they ........
kinda like preparing a ridden horse for "careless" moments form riders when mounting by getting them used to legs contacting rumps !!!!
twas really proud of Taz a few weeks ago when I was long reining her (not driving at the mo ) and a new connection I was trying gave way and the breeching fell down round her hocks and one leg lifted over and tangled. .
.. a little skip and a trembling bum .......... but when asked / told she stood for me to unbuckle the breeching. ;D
so sometimes even when things go wrong and you think , well maybe that was not the best of idea .....theres a silver lining..... its a good test really for when the S*** REALLY hits the fan

LOL, the other day when driving Ander-woo and Charles Buttons Esq. in tandem we made a total totz of things and Ander-woo jumped over the lead traces! It took someone on the ground to tell me what a witter we were in. We halted and they went in and lifted Ander-woo's legs out from his predicament! When I am training them first and foremost I get them used to dangling, dragging, flapping things. When it is important that they do ignore such cockups they at least, have the basics. At the warm up at the Black isle show, the quick release shackle came undone on the exercise vehicle harness. In pairs! Not a problem, ask them to stand, grom out and do it back up. STAND is the most importand thing any driving horse can do!
