:DHi Guys, great forum learning lots!! I was just wondering i have a shetland pony i drive in a 2 wheel exercise trap she's an 8 year old 10.2hh stocky little thing and fairly fit. She normally has myself and my good old mum on the trap but i'm never sure what sort of distance she should work up to managing. It's very flat here so no hill work. Any Advice?

When my Shetland singles were fit they would do a 14 mile drive happily both days most weekends with two people up and that was in hilly country. But they were very fit as we were doing HDT against horses at the time! My pair could do a 25 mile drive in an afternoon (with a 1/2hr break in the middle but almost all at trot) without coming back distressed at all, they were warm but nothing more than that. These were unclipped ponies who were driven at weekends and ridden/lunged in the evening during the week.

42 inches of reasonably fit, Island type Shetland should be easily up to two average people for a good 10 miles, especially on the flat.
My two, Like Esther's are a pair of hooligans, take them on a road trip and you are the one who comes back tired!
I get down from the vehicle expecting to see heaving sides and there is none. Just ordinary breathing, and that is from 10 miles, in trot pulling all the way. In quite hilly country.
