Does anyone know of anywhere that sells trailers for transporting traps? Or anyone have a good suggestion?

I know of people who use modified boat trailers. A bog standard flat bed trailer with a purpose built shaft rest is good too.

Hello there,
For a few years I transported my Bellcrown 2-wheeler trap in my Ifor Williams 510 trailer. The trap went up the front ramp, on its side, i.e. resting on a wheel, tied to a sack truck. The pony went up the rear ramp and stood in the usual way. The seat and shafts came off the trap and were transported separately, in the other side of the trailer.
When we obtained our new four-wheeler we had to buy a three-horse Wessex trailer and have it modified. We took out all the partitions, the carriage goes up the rear ramp and right to the front of the trailer. There is a big, heavy bar which is fitted right across the trailer behind the carriage and in front of the pony. This is lifted off to get the carriage out. The pony goes up the rear ramp so is in the back of the trailer but with no partitions.
This all has worked very well. The pony is 14.1 hh and the carriage is a Hartland Micrasport four-wheeler. A larger pony would not fit in the back part of the trailer.
With a Shetland or small pony a normal sized trailer will usually do, perhaps with modifications. It might be a good idea to go to a local driving event and have a look at how people transport their carriages and ponies. Or ask at your local club.
There are usually ways and means but you must make sure it is all safe and legal. Good luck.

I use a equi-trek carriage treka ideal trailer ;D I've seen a few folk using the larger ifor williams horse trailer as well for transporting both horse and carriage.
If you are looking for a trailer for just the vehicle I've seen converted towavans, car transporters etc most trailers can be easily converted to take a carriage .
