Hello all,
Today my older daughter and I took Rebel on a BDS drive. We knew where we were starting from and turned up at the appointed time thinking we were going to do the usual 7 - 8 miles along quiet country lanes. Imagine our surprise when we were given the directions and found it was a pub drive of 17 miles! Nothing daunted, off we set. The faster turn outs among us went first with one other driver and us bringing up the rear. Nine miles later we reached the pub, arriving only a quarter of an hour behind the first lot. All eight horses and ponies were tied up in the pub garden while we had some lunch and a drink. Then we put to and set off on the eight mile (different route) trip home. We started off first but the faster ones soon caught up and overtook. However, they weren't so fast on the way home so we tagged along with them. Rebel was very good and there was remarkably little traffic on the quiet lanes, which was marvellous. The weather was sunny and warm - perhaps a bit too warm for the ponies - and Rebel sweated a fair bit so had a nice wash down by his trailer and tucked into his hay.
All in all a very nice day's driving with friendly and helpful companions.
Rebel is not wildly keen on too much exertion so was delighted to be home and out in his field, resting. He will have a couple of days off now to recover.
Good driving everyone.
