Hello all, I'm new to this site, and to carriage driving, was hoping to findTh some people to chat to about it.
I've been having irregular lessons last year through our local Riding for the Disabled, it's been a hard fight to get them to agree to starting Carriage Driving but we finally cracked it. Between lack of coaches and my spinal surgery last year I've not had many opportunities to practise, but I competed in a Dressage event with my instructor's pony and got a 2nd in the Novice class. Also competed in the RDA Carriage Driving day and did very very well, especially in the cones course.
I recently aquired a Shetland that is supposed to be carriage trained, but it turns out he's never been properly driven so I'm not sure how it will work out (he is alson only 9hh, not the 11-12hh he was supposed to be). This is my second attempt, my first Shetland had to go back as he had a major problem with separation anxiety that led to lots of rearing in the shafts etc and I was just too worried that he would injure himself.
Anyway, I realise that there has not been much activity on these boards for a while, but am hoping there are some people out there to talk to and ask advice.
thanks for having me :-)
