Can we have a thaw please? My dishwasher and washing machine are out of action as the pipes under the floor are frozen up. To reach them would mean removing the kitchen cabinet with the sink in, the freezer and lifting the floor boards.
Also it has got beyond a joke carting water to 132 moos, 3 horses and a donkey. All the outside taps were on strike yesterday so filling 20 litre drums up in the house for them.
Somehow the postman missed us - we were all on the farm somewhere - and now I have to troll 8 miles to pick up a registered parcel. Most probably a £3 bit for a tractor!!!!!!!!

Oh dear, Rabasta, you certainly have it bad in Yorkshire. The water situation has to be the worst thing about freezing winters. I am keeping my fingers crossed for a thaw for you (and for all of us come to that).
Here in Sussex we still have snow lying and lots of ice. Warmer weather is on the way, according to the forecasters, at the weekend and I am hoping I can at last get my trailer out and go and collect my new carriage. At present there is no way I can tow a trailer through the ice along our lane.
Today the postman ventured up the lane for the first time in ages so we did get some post, including last week's Horse and Hound, which I have missed reading.
Here's to a long-lasting thaw!

Looking at the met office forcast after it gets above freezing today it is staying that way until Sat night which is only down for -1. Two yard troughs running last night so all the biggest moos could water themselves.

We are beginning to thaw out but roads are still awful, had to tow our postie down the farm road at the beginning of the week, outside taps have been frozen solid however three or four flasks of hot water seemed to do the trick we have had milder weather for the past few days but the freezing weather has started again tonight think we will be in for a long, cold winter brrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr

It was mild enough for me to go to Consett to collect two horses for the RDA. Some bright spark had shut the north bound A1 and I had to come back to the A19 and up. I could have done that from the start.
