Spoony - the pony who got me back on track with carriage driving was PTS yesterday. I found him on a saddlery notice board in September 2008. Bert wasn't travelling well in England while we were over showing. Spoon seemed the perfect travelling companion and he ended up coming back in the box. Needless to say that Bert travelled much better and with no need for sedation. Back in Jersey, Spoon soon found his feet and took to carriage driving like he'd been doing it all of his life. He refused to drive with blinkers and prefered his KY double rotary snaffle to any traditional driving bit. He would physically shout to tell you when he believed he deserved treat. He wouldn't pick up his feet unless you also did his stretches in the right order . He would aim for the middle of the cones and would ge arsey if you tried to correct him (and actually, he was 99% right on every occasion!). He was my best friend, my (equine) soul mate and has left a massive Spoony shaped hole in the lives of all who knew him. Rest in peace 'husband'. Everything that we (me, Acer and Boo) do next season is in honour of you. xxx
