We have had it really bad up here since mid December with really deep snow. Without my Landcruiser we would be really stuffed ! Its pretty much the only thing able to get in and out of our place for a while !
So poor Murph has been on involuntary “Box Rest” since mid December when all this snow started. He is fine and it does not seem to be bothering him much. As long as he has hay he is fine ! :LOL
But I thought that he really needed to get out for a bit of a leg stretch. The field is not an option so the only place he can go out is on the “road” hard standing area I have for winter turnout down the side of the shed and round the back of the shed. This is where he normally goes out during the day from Mid October to Mid April but there has been so much snow lately that you could not get in to it or open or close the gate, I was going to have to dig away some of the snow from around the gateway to get in.
So this morning I managed to clear enough snow away from the gateway to let Murph out on the road for a well deserved leg stretch after being stuck in his stable for over three weeks with the snow and weather. He was very good really, had a little buck and yeha ! But once I produced a haynet that was much more interesting ! His belly obviously knew better !
The snow is really deep but he was fine, had a bit of a trot around and a couple of bucks but was soon happily munching on his hay. Should be able to get him out there most days as long as we don’t get any more snow !
He was really funny when he went out. When I first went to take him out he was really not sure at all about all the snow. He just obviously had not been out in deep snow anything like this at all. He went round pawing and digging at it and burying his nose in it and digging at the snow with his nose and blowing and snorting. It was like he was saying “ What is all this cold white stuff ? “ He was really funny ! LOL I would have thought that coming over from Ireland he would have seen and been out in deep snow but I really don’t think so going from his reaction when I took him out this morning.
Hello Mum ! You got any sweeties ?
Hellooooooo !
