>:(I did a local indoor competition yesterday - I should have known better - I still can't quite believe it , they have always been a bit "original" judging wise, but things reached a new level yesterday - rules seemed to apply to some and not to others, one pair of ponies was driven by one driver in the morning and another in the afternoon - to finish third, errors (corrected or not so)in the obstacles were not penalised - except for one poor person ("poor" because he was the only one the judge noticed of the 6 or so errors we saw) - I was "awarded" a 20 point penalty for knocking an element over (2 to 5 points is the norm in this type of competition), one other person was given this penalty too - the same "poor" bloke whose fault in the obstacle was noticed . The day finishes with a "duel" , I won mine - well I was first past the line by quite a lot, however, on paper it seemed not, I am still reeling in shock , needless to say I finished last - I don't mind being last or eliminated if I am , except that I wasn't............and it spoilt an otherwise lovely day. My husband rung the president of the organising club earlier on this evening against my wishes (I knew the reaction), to suggest that they perhaps had a few problems and needed some extra help as there were a lot of unnoticed errors, only to be accused of being an arrogant (we do nationals) troublemaker (for questioning the results) - all we want is for the rules to be applied and are willing to help rather than compete if necessary - we know of other people who want the competitons "cleaned" up - we are just stupid enough to have said something.
I think this new "level" has been reached as they have got a lady who is rather enthusiastic and keen to judge , she has done the judges course and the course to be able to score- except that she doesn't know how to apply the rules and can't count (it goes without saying that she has never driven in competition) - she is the wife of a commitee member who is also a good friend of the president - I happened to let it slip to her earlier in the year that I wouldn't mind doing the necessary to get on the judges list too(they have a shortage in this area ....) to be told "oh they don't take anyone"
END OF RANT !!!
