Our arab Wizard is at the Dick vet as he had an accident at home and shattered his splint bone. Its the same leg that he broke as a 3yr old. We went down to visit him today and he appears bright but has dropped a lot of weight. We are keeping our fingers crossed that the bone regenerates as there is only about an inch left at the bottom and under the hock. Healing vibes please.

Poor pony. MASSIVE VIBES being sent. Usually splint bone removal is not too much of a problem but he may be a bit different if the leg is already funny from previous trauma.

Emma went down to the Bush early this morning so that she could see for herself his xrays and the actual wound. The vets are very pleased with him and he can come home on sunday. We dont know if he will make a full recovery as his splint bone is virtually non existant but we have got him through this before and God willing we will do it again. Thank you all for your interest.

Wizard is now home. He had a bout of colic when he first came home which was probably caused by the stress of travelling but it settled after a couple of days and he seems fine now. He is coping well so far with the box rest and the bandage changing. Hopefully he is now on the mend. He has to go back to the Dick vet for more xrays in six weeks, fingers crossed all goes to plan

Wizard is coping well with box rest and walking out every day. He has pressure sores under his bandage which are restricting his movement. Has anyone any suggestions how to treat them while he still has to have a stookie on 24/7 I use honey dressings at work and we are going to try these ------any more ideas!!!

Wizard has had his bandage reduced in an effort to heal the sores (now has 3) He has to go back to the Dick vet in two weeks time for an xray to see if the fracture is healing and not interfering with his ligaments, so fingers crossed everyone that he gets the big bandage off and out to graze instead of his 20 min daily toddle.
